Veradex-E® Ointment

A skin soothing ointment containing Dl Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Salicylic Acid USP, Yellow Petrolatum, Insecticide free Anhydrous Lanolin, and fractions of Peruvian Balsam.

The base of Veradex-E® Ointment, a well thought out Yellow Petrolatum - Anhydrous Lanolin compound in a specified ratio, creates a semi-occlusive coating which allows the skin to respirate, preventing further maceration, while resisting exogenous infiltrates.

This ointment helps alleviate pain, redness, itching, and helps ameliorate the healing process. For use after laser peels or treatments, mild sunburn, first and second degree burns, abrasions and contusions. Helps soften dry scaly skin patches, and fissured or callused skin, helps ameliorate early signs of hypertrophic scarring and stretch marks due to pregnancy.

Directions:

Cleanse area, blot dry. Apply a thin layer of Veradex-E® Ointment as often as necessary.

Veradex-E® Ointment was developed by Robert Posner in the late 1960's, and brought to market in 1974. The marketing then, was through Nursing Homes and Hospitals, with emphasis on preventing and treating bed-sores (decubitus ulcers) and first & second degree burns.

Throughout the late 70's, into the mid 1980's, Veradex-E® Ointment was the standard of therapy for decubitus ulcers in most Nursing Homes and Hospitals in a tri-state area (Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York). Ongoing In-Service Education to both nursing and medicine in the area of wound healing was standardized.

It is thought that Vitamin E and Salicylic Acid in a certain ratio, produced anti-oxidant, as well as Keratoplastic activity. Theoretically, this would create an increase in fibroblastic motility, creating a more speedy, pronounced proliferation of new epithelial cells, as well as spurring the more rapid production of tropocollagen. An additional finding was the in situ increase of endogenous zinc in the wound in the presence of this compound. Zinc, of course, is a well-known healing agent that is produced continually by the body.

Veradex-E® Ointment is a patented product: US patent # 5,645,826
